Detail Without Boundaries
“I love the natural beauty of stone,” says Stephen P. Antisdale founder and Chief Operating Officer of Stone Ally (formerly Stone Connection). He got his start in the business working for Walker & Zanger as an Architectural Sales Manager after graduating in Economics from Occidental College in 1983. After thirteen years, Steve migrated to Mirage Resorts, then owned by Steve Wynn, where he worked with the design team, buying stone for the Bellagio and Beau Rivage Hotel + Casino.
“There were no cost boundaries as Wynn’s team pursued design excellence. Roger Thomas’ attention to detail was far superior to any other projects I had experience at the time.”
Initially Stone Connection
When MGM acquired Mirage Resorts in 1999, Antisdale knew it was time to found his own firm, Stone Connection, Las Vegas, which sourced stone for the Wynn Hotels in Las Vegas and Maccau, as well as the Rosewood Chancellery-London and Bellagio Hotel-Las Vegas. He has completed hundreds of projects since that time.
Stone Ally and the Beauty of Stone
Now Operating as Stone Ally, the firm continues its devotion to customized projects that have design significance. “Just consider Blue Bahia, one of the most beautiful stones in the world,” he says. “It doesn’t look like it should be natural, but it is.
Or think of Calcutta marble, quarried above the Mediterranean for 1,000 years. When you see it from a distance, it looks like snow on a mountain top, but its white marble residue. The sculpture David is made from this stone. If we are going to use such wonderful material, then our industry must create something compelling and significant from it.”
